The recently reunited Toadies continue their three-day stint at Stubbs with a Thursday night show, showcasing their brand-new third album, No Deliverance. The city of Austin has never forgotten about the Dallas-based post-grunge band, whose hits include Possum Kingdom, Tyler, and never fails to show up in full force when the band comes to town. Another Austin rock 'n roll favorite, the Riverboat Gamblers, will open the show with their always emotion-filled performance.

Like many things, the cinematic soundscape that Shearwater create pay heavy rewards to the patient, attentative listener. Founded in 1999 by Jonathan Meiburg and Will Sheff of Okkervil River, Shearwater was initially designed to merely be an outlet to share quieter songs that the two were working on. But after putting together five full-length albums, including 2006's critically acclaimed Palo Santo and the brilliant follow-up Rook, Shearwater are now a main attraction. See them on Thursday night at Mohawk with Wye Oak and Jennifer O'Conner.

Squeeze are an English band that came to prominence in the United Kingdom during the New Wave period of the late 1970s, and have continued to have a successful were courting career throughout the last two decades. They are well-known in the UK for A string of hit singles, and they still continue to attract new fans. Inspired heavily by the Beatles and the Kinks, Squeeze provided one of the links between classic British guitar pop and post-punk. Emo's wraps up their anniversary week on Saturday night in style withthe influential Seattle grunge band Mudhoney. Before Nirvana began to make a name for themselves, Mudhoney began clearing the way for the new genre that would eventually become one of the biggest musical phenomenons of the 1990s. And though they would not reach the heights of fame of their Seattle-based peers, Mudhoney were at least partially responsible for the groundswell that made Kurt Cobain an era-defining icon. Opening: OM, The Crackpipes.

If you like to eat – and who doesn’t? – South Padre sports over 60 restaurants with all types of cuisine. If you’re a landlocked grub like most of us, the marine feast goes down as easy and often as the great music! Late fall on South Padre? Normally low 80s daytime with a gentle Gulf breeze, surf temp in the mid to high 70s. In short, pretty darn perfect and we’re betting way better than where you are sitting right now.
