The Valentine's Day formula hasn't changed much over the years. It still means flowers, heart-shaped candy, romantic dinners, and small, shiny gifts. Oh, and silly valentines cards too. Over a billion of the things are sent each year worldwide. Mostly to 3rd grade school teachers. People say this practice began in the 15th century with Charles, Duke of Orleans, who sent several love letters to his wife while he was a prisoner of war. One valentine even depicted Cupid in the act of piercing a man's heart with an arrow. Ahh, those were the good old days. Such romance.
Wait, where were we going with this? Oh yeah, now I remember. Things to do for Valentines Day in Austin. We are putting together a comprehensive list of things you can do for or with your valentine, which doesn't necessarily include incarcerated love letters. Do you know of any good Valentine's Day events in Austin we failed to include? Are you throwing a party? Offering a special Valentie's dinner? We would love to know about it. Shoot us a message and we will add your event to our list!
