It's the place to find out what to do in Austin. Over 150,000 people each month use Do512 to find out about thousands of music, art, theater, film, and special events event happening around town including great happy hours and drink specials. Do512 is also a social networking tool---build your crew, recommend events you like to others, view others' picks and they can view yours. Do512 also has a "Weekly Top Picks" newsletter that goes to over 95,000 opt-in subscribers every Thursday, featuring the highest-rated events of the upcoming week.

How are events ranked?

Rankings are based on the number of people recommending an event, combined with the recommendations from Do512 "All-Stars" (bloggers and local media). You make a recommendation for an event by clicking "I LIKE IT!" The number in the blue box represents how many people have recommended it.

Where do Do512.com events come from?

The events on Do512 come from a number of places. We pull shows from band and venue websites, and users add their own events or send us press releases. We also scour the internet looking for unique events. One delightful aspect of Do512 is the ability for you, our users, to add events yourself. You can also submit event requests to do512@do512.com and we'll get them up for you.

It's as easy as clicking "Add an Event" at the top of the Do512 homepage and filling in the blanks -- who, what, where, when.  You can upload pictures or posters associated with the event too. Please contact us at mandrella@do512.com if you would like to advertise your event or need help with adding it.

Can I show my friends (and enemies) my recommendations?

You sure can. Once you register you have a profile page that shows all the events for which you've clicked "I Like It!" It also shows the comments you've made about events, bands, and venues. You can share recommendations by clicking the "Email Your Friends" link, or add events to Facebook, Twitter, and more. You can even embed your own customized calendar showing all of your recommendations on your blog. Add some personality to your profile by including a picture, a link (to your website, blog, Facebook page, whatever), and a blurb about yourself.

Yes! You can search under music, culture, nightlife, happy hour, and more. Within each category you can choose to see only the events your crew has recommended, or the events recommended by "All-Stars". To make your life even easier you can simply click on Top Picks and see only the most popular events for that day. You can also search for events near you or your destination.

Can I view all events for a band or venue?

Yes again! Just click on the band or venue name to see a page of all upcoming shows, music, video, photos, and even a place to sing your praises (or shout your objections) in the Comments section.

Where do the photos come from?

We figured it wasn't fair to ask you to upload photos to yet another site, and there were already so many great photos on Flickr.com, that we decided to pull them from there. If you already use Flickr and want to make sure your photos are available to Do512.com - just tag them Do512 (along with the band or venue name) and we'll find them. If you don't use Flickr, take a look, as it's a pretty snazzy photo sharing site. Note: You can see the tag for a band or venue by visiting its page on Do512. We also have our own photo section, do512.com/photos, where you'll see all the galleries we've sent our awesome team of photographers out to. Want to ask us to cover your event? These folks are the back bone of all the great stuff there is to do in this city. They are the local media, the bloggers, the DJ's, the artists, and promoters that we are thrilled are making it their jobs to get us off our couches and out on the town. They're so good at it in fact, that we decided to give them a voice on Do512 for you to follow. All-Star votes and comments on events are featured below the listing for perusal, as are links to their websites. You can find the full list of All-Stars under the Big Stuff tab on the main page. Follow them, friend them, be one with them, and they will make sure you are in the know!

If you enter to win tickets on Do512, you will receive notification via email no later than 24 hours before the show. If you have won a contest via our Facebook or Twitter pages, we will tag you in the winning post. Please reply to the email or post confirming your attendance/telling us we're awesome. Otherwise we'll assume you can't claim the prize and give it to someone else!
