Maybe little known, but this cat has been in it like a vet. Remember the Hieroglyphics stable-mates, Souls of Mischief? A–Plus is one of the co-founders way back with MC Tajai since 8 years old in the real schoolyard. The early 90′s were both kind and cruel as the Souls were put up to Jive Records with one of the most representative albums of the era and most slept on respectively, ’93 Till Infinity (with the title track produced by the devil we speak of). This record, released during the height of west coast gangster rap drew alternative voices mirroring the nonviolent perspectives of hip-hop groups such as The Pharcyde and Oakland neighbors, The Digital Underground. However, due to poor record sales the Souls were thenceforth filed into major label obscurity and dropped in 1995.

Although rather quiet on the scene recently, A–Plus is back with this full length solo debut, ready to reclaim the past. This guy has the serious lyrical style like old school in effect. Listening to this record is like a time warp, with new school hypnotic beats and hooks calling back to melodies on ’93 Till Infinity. Both get into your cuticles real easy and travel into the little hairs like fluid. And this is how A–Plus chills from ’93 until… …
