No, they're not the Latin American equivalent of a Swedish bikini team. The Brazilian Girls are in fact a genre-bending four-piece band composed mostly of hairy dudes, Keyboardist Didi Gutman, bassist Jesse Murphy, drummer Aaron Johnston and sultry piped, multi-lingual singer Sabina Sciubba (the bond's lone female) met in New York City, where they used to frequent the jam sessions at the hip downtown club Nublu. Upon joining forces and coming up with one of the cheekiest band names in history since Queen, the Brazilian Girls landed a deal with Verve and hit the ground running with 2004's Lazy Lover IP, followed soon after with their gleefully eclectic and highly acclaimed self-titled, full-length debut.
