For Justin Warfield , remixing the new Depeche Mode single "Heaven" was truly a labor of love. "I love that band so much, no matter how much I hear the records they've almost become standards to me, and I never get sick of them," says Warfield, the voice of post-punk revivalists She Want Revenge . "No matter how many times I saw them on the road when SWR opened up [2006], every night was a pleasure .... like going to the best concert ever, going to rock school and hanging out with the elder statesmen of rock and more here

The press release quotes the figure 100 million. Yes, now embarking on their fourth decade, Depeche Mode has surpassed 100 million — not clicks, silly Internet kids, 100 million in worldwide sales . Most of your favorite bands would settle for that number of clicks, right? Or likes? Or mentions in tweets. Anyway, we digress. Depeche Mode's 13th studio album, "Delta Machine," due out March 26 on Columbia Records. Here's the video for the song "Heaven." Ascend. more here

Artist: Depeche Mode Album: The Best Of, Vol. 1 Label: Reprise / Wea Genre: Modern Rock/Alternative, Rock/Pop Rating: Buy it >>

Depeche Mode is what I like to refer to as a stepping stone band. They take their rightful place on the list of influences of great musicians, yet their own greatness pales in comparison. Everyone has a Depeche Mode song that they love, yet I have met very few certifiable fans of this band. Perhaps it is that 80s box they so flawlessly fit into which is just a steel trap. For a band to be truly dynamic, timelessness is indeed a factor.

The former mentioned songs that everyone loves are on this collection of greatest hits so if you find yourself in the fan category, go grab it. For someone curious about Depeche Mode, this is a good album to check out as a fair introduction.

Firstly, there are some matters that need to be discussed. You may be surprised that for our Sunday Morning feature this week, we hit you with a spaced-out, time-warped Ben Klock remix of Depeche Mode’s “Peace.” I, as you, have become accustomed to the heartfelt, nostalgic ballads that dominate our Sunday Morning posts, but this weekend I hope to take things a little differently, in light of the holiday. We are, in effect, graced with an extra 24 hours to delay the inevitable back-down-to-earth feelings experienced by us all the morning before we must return to more here
