about 1 month agoWho: Jake Bugg in the Mojave Tent In Three or Fewer Words: Not Bob Dylan. Memorable Because: In the long history of "New Dylans," Brit newcomer falls somewhere in the category of, well, Jakob Dylan, writing punchy, likable songs that in retrospect seem a bit empty. This was one of those Coachella sets where you go to see the buzzy dude, and once you hear the inevitable Song You Know (in this case, the rompy "Two Fingers"), you wander off in search of your next fix. 6 months agoJake Bugg - 'Jake Bugg' scored 9 / 10 There's a great story about Jake Bugg that illustrates just how different he is from your average British teenager. Shortly after playing his first gig (not in some fauxhemian east London snakepit, but at his high school in Nottingham), Bugg's friends, suitably impressed, implored him to audition for Britain's Got Talent. In their defence, it's no stretch to imagine Amanda Holden violently weeping all the fluid out of her body to the strains of 'Country Song' or 'Someone Told Me', but Bugg was having none of it. "I never would have done that," he told one interviewer, "because it doesn't seem genuine, it doesn't feel natural."...more at nme.com
