1. The Ipod this week...running on Towne Lake is one of the great pleasures of living in Austin for me....clears my mind out and takes off a few Guiness' in the process, but getting around the trail is ALL about the tunes I'm listening to...listening to the this Sammy Davis Jr. Live CD that I bought in a truckstop in Holland and it's explosive, he's hands down the most talented singer of the Rat Pack....listening to the Rev. Peytons Big Damn Band from Indiana and in a world of Stevie Ray Vaughn sound alikes it's the most catchy unique sounding blues music I've heard in awhile....listening to the whole Waylon Jennings record "The Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line", either the music industry is scared or the fans are scared,(everything is pretty safe and boring) or they just don't have anybody like Waylon to do this kind of ultra-sexy country music anymore?....a Supersuckers/Steve Earle E.P that Sub-Pop released that's really "unaffected" and cool...a live Townes Van Zant CD that was recorded in New York at Town Hall in the early 70s' and it's Townes' best vocal performance I've ever heard...listening to the original gansters Studio 1 reggae/ska compilaton and it sounds like you're in the room with them mon! 2. "The Last King of Scotland"....Forrest Whitaker, (born in Texas), should definetly barnstorm the Oscars this year...this film about Ugandan dictator Idi Amin is unbelievable...shook me to my core...the performances are so real it's like watching a documentary of old footage...the guy that plays the kid from Scotland is on fire as well...go see it! 3. The Explorations of Captain James Cook in the Pacific....reading this book right now and the cool thing about it is that it's all taken from his personal journals....this was all written between 1768-1779 which means there we're BIG goings' ons' with you guessed it?...Pirates....also there's the native wars and love affairs and all the bullshit he had to put up with from the Queen of England...they fought everything from sickness, theft, storms, the Spainards, you-name-it...from Hawaii to the South Pole, this guy must of had some big balls 'cause he was just relentless! 4. Peyton Manning did it...it's done...happy for the Colts fans....but the reason why I'm really happy about sombody, ANYBODY winning the SuperBowl is it means that football season is over with and something waaaaay more important is fixing to crank up...BASEBALL....GO ASTROS!

Jesse Dayton
Saw Jesse Dayton last Thursday (10/3) and the Broken Spoke and he was incredible. Performing wtih endless energy to a full house, he had everyone on their feet jitterbugging, swinging, and two-stepping. He is there every Thursday this month and I will definitely be back for more!
