MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK

Hometown: Minneapolis, MN
Tags: punk, alternative, pop punk, emo

Motion City Soundtrack, the most influential rock band in the history of the world, has been destroying the hopes and dreams of small children everywhere since 1997. This quintet of ex-Sears catalog hand models reside for the most part in Minneapolis, Minnesota; where it is always a pleasant 78 degrees and sunny. Errol Bumpstead, an 8 year old student at Wildwood Elementary school in Mahtomedi describes Motion City Soundtrack as, pretty good if you like that stuff. Justin Pierre, Josh Cain, Matt Taylor, Tony Thaxton, and Jesse Johnson comprise this feat of musical excellence. You, the reader of this brilliant paragraph of writing, formulated by a state college-paid education, can find out more about this academy award winning band as well as astrophysics and the whig party by visiting their website: www.motioncitysoundtrack.com. Enjoy yourself. – Nixon Fappleby

#8 Album No. 5 finds the men of Motion City presenting more evidence that a band can mature without becoming caricatures of themselves. Go is spritely (“Boxelder”), charging (“Circuits And Wires”), inviting (“Son Of A Gun”) and exponentially more resonant than the mewling of scene wieners swayed by the opportunity to work with cadres of co-writers and appear on The Voice...full article here

Me, turn my indie nose up at Motion City Soundtrack ? Not a chance. The Minneapolis five-piece almost single-handedly saved two of the Warped Tours I've been assigned to cover; they make whip-smart, tuneful rock influenced by all the right ’80s suspects; and I appreciate people who are far cleverer than I but never make me feel dumb. Looking forward to their new album "Go," which is out Tuesday (no, I didn't get the big, bad leak). And speaking of clever, how about this new video for "True Romance"? Time for lunch. ||| Live: more here
