The hard rock/heavy metal quartet Powderburn came into existence in November 1999,  in a small apartment located in Austin, TX. The band quickly obtained Ken Lockman, a guitarist and vocalist from New Jersey. Within a month or so of their first show, the band went through several lineup changes until bassist Greg Enkler and drummer Patrick Swift, childhood friends from just outside New York City, arrived in Austin to round out the lineup, paving the way for Powderburn to begin defining their current sound. Most recently Eric Smith has joined the band as lead guitarist bringing a whole new life into the band. Accomplishments came early to Powderburn, achieving a #1 song on the Metalcore chart of MP3.com with the track “Now You Know”, followed by an appearance on the television show Jimmy and Doug’s Farmclub – all this within a year of the band’s inception.Eight years and several hundred shows later, the band has constantly improved and refined their sounds and image. They have shared stages with such metal luminaries as Staind, Hellyeah, Slayer, Killswitch Engage, Alter Bridge, The Misfits, Sepultura, 3 Days Grace, Six Feet Under, and Anthrax. These exploits have earned the band sponsorships from Jagermeister, Budweiser, Sam Ash Music Stores, and Coffin Case, whom only serve to bring the Powderburn sound to even greater audiences around the country. As a result of these achievements and because of the rabid support the band’s fans provide, Powderburn has been voted Best Metal Band 3 years in a row at the prestigious Austin Music Awards. Austin, TX is also home to the world famous South By Southwest Festival where band has performed to packed houses for the last three years. The band was also recognized by the well-known rock magazine The Edge, based out of San Antonio, as the best band of 2004 and best metal band of 2003, 2004 and 2005 , with several of the members also winning individual awards. The band also understands the creative and marketing potential of the Internet, with both the band’s official website receiving over 31,000 of hits per week, and gathering near 10,000 friends on MySpace.com.  The band’s most recent Jagermeister promotional video recently reached 80,000 downloads and shows no sign of slowing down. The band released their debut full-length CD, “A New Sin”, in December of 2000 and their sophomore self-titled effort in December of 2003. In January of 2007 the band released an EP/DVD entitled “Echoed In Red”.
