DJ, rapper, energetic live performer, graphic designer, beat maker, producer, engineer…these are all words that one can use to accurately describe Raze, the Milwaukee artist extraordinaire.
Since his start in the early 2000’s with Mayhem Entertainment to his crucial role as the engineer of the House of Mutants in the late 2000’s, to his recent solo album – the incredibly vivid and diverse Living in Technocolor – Raze has been a vital member of the Milwaukee hip-hop community.
Known for his visual approach to his lyrics, Raze paints pictures with his words in the same fashion Picasso manipulated canvas with paint. Sometimes the songs are beautiful and other times they are introspective and very telling of his personal life. Sometimes, the lyrics are angry and pointed. No matter what they are, they are always profound…even when he’s taking a moment to have fun or make a joke.
As a producer, Raze is a master of his drum kits, obtaining a signature sound that is unique yet universal, and has produced songs for dozens of artists. However, some of Raze’s greatest works could be the albums that he’s acted as engineer and executive producer over. The man also known as Mr. Norris not only has a keen ear, but in many cases is the person who can make the crazy idea in the studio turn out to sound great on record…a talent that many self-taught engineers don’t have in their repertoire.
Whatever hat you ask Raze to wear, whatever skill you need, Mr. Norris is somebody who always does quality work and is somebody that can be depended on when you need excellent execution.
