Raw, primal, and appropriately buzzing, “one-man bandit” Mosquito Bandito sucks inspiration from the serrated twang of Link Wray, The Cramps, and probably a jug or two of moonshine for his skuzzy blues-punk, drawing listeners to the beach with reverb-laden surf guitar and then holding their heads under the waves. Retro-minded psychobilly group The Goddamn Gallows are all greasy swing riffs, slick pompadours, and galloping chop-shop rhythms made for drinking, dancing, and fighting—in that order. Austin’s awesomely sloppy The Teeners don’t have time for any of those things: They’re too busy freaking the fuck out.
