The Coathangers

HOMETOWN:
Atlanta, GA
MYSPACE:
myspace.com/fuckthecoathangers

The Coathangers are an experimental/rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. They are: The Crook Kid Coathanger: Vocals, guitar, tamborine; Minnie Coathanger: Vocals, bass, tamborine; Rusty Coathanger: Vocals, drums; Bebe Coathanger: Vocals, keys. The band formed in 2006 as a joke, played a house show and were asked to open for The Hiss on the strength of their performance. The name was chosen for its vulgarity – an irreverent take on abortions – though all band members are pro-choice. Their playfulness continues into their songs, with titles such as ’Don’t Touch My Shit, Nestle In My Boobies and Mustache Ride. Despite their low expectations, no one seems to be dismissing them as a novely act. A live demo is in circulation and upcoming releases are due from Die Slaughterhaus and Rob’s House Records. Julia Kugel, flippantly fires. more at www.spin.com

This Atlanta quartet, as seen on tour with Marnie Stern and the Black Lips, is part of a proud heritage of Southern new wave like the B-52's and Pylon, with batcave keyboards, rock lobster guitars, and tons of heart-feasting vocals.more at pitchforkmedia.com
