The Local Nyc

THE LOCAL NYC is the New York City based songwriting team of Tim Champeaux (Lyrics) and Jon Cowherd (Music).
Champeaux is the singer, and Cowherd handles the keyboards, backing vocals and all the producing duties.

Tim Champeaux and Jon Cowherd met at Miss Mae’s Place in New Orleans during the latter part of the last century while attending Loyola University. They bonded instantly, both having a healthy respect for Stevie Wonder, Tom Waits and Tequila.

While in New Orleans, Cowherd hooked up with drummer Brian Blade and they formed The Brian Blade Fellowship. He has also worked with Daniel Lanois, Joni Mitchell, Rosanne Cash and Iggy Pop, just to name a few.
Champeaux moved to Brooklyn, and was slugging it out with the Toasters, the Brand New Heavies, and local favorites The Second Step.

When Cowherd finally landed in NYC for good, the duo began writing songs together; Champeaux writing the lyrics, Cowherd writing the music.
The CD “Just Show Up” was recorded at Unique Studios in Times Square NYC, and includes the single “Addict Me” which can currently heard on HBO’s 2009 Image Campaign!!!
