The Rosebuds are an indie rock band from north carolina. Its current members are Ivan Howard (vocals/guitar), Kelly Crisp (vocals/keyboard), and Matthew McCaughan (drums). Howard and Crisp met while in college in wilmington, North Carolina. That fall, they moved to nearby raleigh and joined with drummer Billy Alphin to form The Rosebuds. merge records discovered their demo in early 2003 and released Make Out as a full-length debut album that October. Following that recording, Alphin left the group and was replaced by Jonathan Bass. The Rosebuds Unwind EP, an EP with six songs, was released in April 2005, followed by Birds Make Good Neighbors in September. The third full-length from this Raleigh, NC band will have fans heading for the dance floor with "Get Up Get Out" and "Hold On To This Coat". Stylistically, however, Night Of The Furies follows a logical progression from their earlier work. The danceable beats meld with catchy melodies built on themes both dark and seductive. Thematically, the songs are presented as individual and random parts of a larger story. The mood is ominous yet enticing; dangerous yet enchanting. Lyrics explore revolution and struggle, actions and consequences, but also love and redemption. Once could easily just bounce along on the infectious pop hooks, but dig deeper and a larger story and unified themes begin to unfold.
