Up until now, the waiting really has been the hardest part -- waiting, that is, for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, easily one of the greatest American rock bands of the last 30 years, to finally grace a stage at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. But now that said dream booking is finally secured, it comes with the sting of knowing that Petty & Co.'s ACL appearance comes at the tail end of what he's said may be the band's last full-on national tour. Thankfully, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer hasn't threatened to retire, but Heartbreakers gigs after this year could be few and far between. But of course that just heightens the excitement of their debut ACL Festival appearance. Expect Petty and the band (including phenomenal lead guitarist Mike Campbell) to treat fans to an embarrassment of hits and choice album cuts from throughout their 30-year recording career, along with songs from Petty's long-awaited third solo album, the forthcoming Highway Companion.
