Car Stereo (Wars)
Hometown: AUSTIN, Texas
Austin, Texas-based mash-up DJ Chris Rose performs as Car Stereo (Wars) throughout the city’s trendiest dance spots, where he delivers a pop culture buffet by pulling together interesting, high-energy song combinations that keep the hipsters on their feet. As the Austin American-Statesman described him, “Car Stereo (Wars) is Austin’s one-man Big Bang, building up and breaking down multi-verses with ease.” Drawing inspiration from mash-up maestros like Girl Talk, his full-length album, 2007’s The Bandit, is the perfect party-starter — better than anything your iPod shuffle can dish out on its own.

about 1 year agoI first mentioned local DJ crew Car Stereo (Wars) back in February, and earlier this month a new mash-up was posted over at CarStereoWars.net that combines Chamillionare's track "Not a Criminal" with Ratatat's first hit, "Seventeen Years." The result is fairly sick. more at blogspot.com

over 4 years agoAs the lead suggests on his 2007 debut LP, The Bandit, "All Units Converge." No fucking joke. ADD in your ears, Car Stereo (Wars), aka Christopher Rose, is Austin's premier masher, blending Dead Prez with Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana with Avril Lavigne. – Chase Hoffberger
