Don’t be fooled by their humble claim at being only the third greatest thing to come out of Rockford, Ill. — behind Cheap Trick and the older brother on TV’s Blossom; Saam Hagshenas, Jon Marks and Pete Dougherty of Hey Champ have the makings to be serious contenders on the electro/indie-rock scene. They’re already underground heroes in Chicago and have made quite a name for themselves nationwide and even worldwide, thanks both to their spirited live shows and blogosphere buzz around synth-driven tracks like “Cold Dust Girl.” Consequence of Sound puts it best: “If you’re into moving and shaking, shaking and groovin’, then Hey Champ is without a doubt for you.”
