Michael Monroe (Matti Fagerholm, born on June 17, 1962 in Helsinki -) is a Finnish rock musician. He’s best known as the singer of Hanoi Rocks . His characteristics are bleached blonde hair, feminine make-up and glamorous fashion. Personally he has released 5 solo records and he has also played in Jerusalem Slim and Demolition 23. Hanoi Rocks’s biggest hits are Tragedy, Up Around the Bend (a CCR cover version), Don’t You Ever Leave Me, Million Miles Away and People Like Me. Monroe has recorded duets with both Axl Rose and Slash from Guns N’ Roses. The song "Dead, Jail Or Rock’n’Roll" from Monroe’s 1989 solo album Not Fakin’ It had some popularity and aired on MTV. With Slash and Hanoi Rocks bassist Sam Yaffa, Monroe recorded a cover of Steppenwolf’s Magic Carpet Ride to "The Coneheads" movie soundtrack. Monroe has also performed on Guns N’ Roses albums, playing saxophone and harmonica on the Bad Obsession from the Use Your Illusion I album and singing on three Beats and Styles songs. He provides vocals on the cover version of The Dead Boys song Ain’t It Fun from the album The Spaghetti Incident. In 2007 Michael Monroe appeared on White Flame’s single Swimsuit Issue Centerold, providing vocals as well as his infamous harmonica stylings. Listen at Last.fm
