An alternative to the Strokesian machismo that has dominated NYC’s rock scene this decade.. Tigercity plays slick pop that takes more cues from Barry White than Gang of Four… The beats induce the same ’80s-era body-rocking that Hall and Oates’s hits did. Unlike so many current bands, Tigercity moves from conventionally cool to categorically cheesy with no audible self-consciousness.
