"Night Beats currently hail from Seattle but as two of the three members are originally from Texas, it's not hard to pick out the influence of golden age Texas psych idols such as the 13th Floor Elevators, Lost and Found and Golden Dawn." Trouble In Mind

"Like a 50’s blues 45 sped up a little too fast, Shapes Have Fangs keep the surf rock flowing while lead guitarist/vocalist Dustin Coffey’s edgy melodies and thrashing guitar riffs spark like two stones struck together." - KR

"Las Robertas hail from San Jose, Costa Rica, perhaps a rather strange place to find a flourishing punk scene. Nonetheless, these girls make melodic lo-fi punk as good as anyone else. They sound most like New York’s Vivian Girls, all wistful vocal harmonies and crunching guitar riffs, belting out a mercilessly crisp sound that turns their noisy background into a beautifully sweet chorus." Artrocker

"The album is pleasingly dense, with chiming acoustic guitars, swirling vocals, jet-fighter electric fuzz, and tom-heavy drumming. Secret Colours wear their influences on their sleeves—not just the Black Angels and the Brian Jonestown Massacre but also the Velvet Underground, Spacemen 3, and Stone Roses." Chicago Reader

"Guantanamo Baywatch: Looking somewhat like Blondie meets The Stray Cats, this band surely creates cognitive dissonance for the first-time listener, who may be surprised by the tight surf rock the band unleashes. Their instrumental performance echoes the spirit of their surf predecessors, reminding us why Dick Dale has never been uncool. Think “Surfin’ Bird” in all its timeless proto-punk glory, mischieviously packaged with a postmodern wink." - Smells Like Pop
