DJ Shortkut

New York based DJ Shortkutz has been an aspiring artist in the music industry for 14 years. He has rocked performances at the hottest clubs in NY throughout the tri-state area all the way down to South Beach, and across the Atlantic as far as South Africa. He started out performing at various local clubs in Westchester County. Shortly after he decided it was time to enter some of the city’s most well known megaclubs. Spinning records at Club Exit, Sound Factory, Crobar, Lotus, Providence, Suede, and the list goes on. At age 27 ShortKutz is full of energy and talent. Known for tearing up dance floors and hyping crowds, but not limited to live performances. DJ Shortkutz has also appeared in music videos and made private appearances and guest performances for events and parties across the country.

Born Joseph Anthony Donato in Port Chester, New York, DJ Shortkutz learned early of his creative and artistic abilities. Shortkutz first inched his way onto the scene booking school dances in the area moving up to house parties. He battled early and was crowned Westchester’s #1 High school DJ in 1998. He then took his talent with him to college where he became the primary DJ for Manhattanville College (Purchase, New York) and premiered on the school’s radio station 87.9 WMVL.

During his most recent years Shortkutz debuted internationally in Capetown, South Africa. This was an experience in itself to be dj’ing off of American soil. It was Shortkutz representing the USA spinning hard alongside UK house DJ great Clint Lee, at Capetown’s Rhodes House venue. In 2007 Shortkutz spun for the Winter Music Conference in South Beach, Florida. Also that year Shortkutz was signed to BK Music as a tour DJ for an upcoming R&P artist named Kevin L. He traveled to Disney World to perform at the GMAS and then finished up the month with the artist performing a few major markets across the U.S. After the summer Shortkutz traveled to Las Vegas for the Labor Day Weekend spinning at Vudu Lounge on top of the Rio Hotel and at Asia (Planet Hollywood). The road in 2008 for Shortkutz began with a return to the Winter Music Conference to spin alongside Hot 97 FM’s great DJ Camilo. He followed that up with a return to Vegas for both the Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends. Once again Shortkutz was booked to play in major events with the Crookly Clan and even played alongside music icons DJ Jazzy Jeff & DJ AM at Pure in the Ceasars Palace.

Shortkutz is not only a DJ, he is an entrepreneur. He earns a living as a Owner of a barber shop in Pelham named “SHORTKUTZ”. He enjoys basketball and played four years of college basketball while earning a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Manhattanville College. This is Westchester’s first full service Barber Spa where men can go for a haircut, manicure, massage, and eyebrow waxing all in one visit. A barber by day and DJ by night Shortkutz has been very successful in his career up to date and plans to make his mark in history.
