In continuation of a strong lean toward great hip-hop in Austin this week, the 10-year veteran of Los Angeles's underground hip-hop scene Nick "MURS" Carter will headline a solid bill at Emo's. You may not have heard of MURS yet, but the Los Angeles rapper has collaborated with everyone from Snoop Dogg to Aesop Rock and Digital Underground, releasing his 13th album MURS for President through Warner Bros. Records in 2008.

Dragonforce is a British extreme power metal band known for their impossibly intricate twin guitar leads fantasy-based lyrics. The real life guitar heroes had their single "Through the Fire and the Flames" picked up for the videogame Guitar Hero III, which is deemed the fastest, most difficult single song in the series. It even landed the band in The Guinness Book of Records. Come see them pull it off live!

New York's Grammy Award-winning Digable Planets made a huge breakthrough back in the early '90s when they released their debut album, featuring heavy use of jazz samples infused with hip-hop. The album became an instant hit, with the first single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" hitting the top of the charts. After a breakup in the mid-90s no one was sure if we would ever get to see this trio on the same stage again, but the Planets have reunited and there is even rumor that a new album will drop soon.
