For a limited time only, John Erler (of the Alamo’s “Master Pancake Theater” and KOOP 91.7 FM’s “Elk Mating Ritual Hour”) provides a one-man, live, alternate voice-over for the 80’s animated movie He-Man and the Secret of the Sword. Based on the TV cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Secret of the Sword features all your favorite He-Man characters: Battle-Cat, Man-at-Arms, Beast Man, She-Ra, Tri-Klops and more! When Prince Adam learns that he has a long-lost twin sister (She-Ra), it’s up to He-Man to rescue her from the nefarious Hordak and his evil minions, the Horde. But who really cares about the original plot? John Erler will single-handedly be re-voicing and re-writing the original script liberally tonight. Prince Adam will be an Aryan goth-child, Skeletor will enjoy bubble baths and Julia Roberts movies, and Beast Man will have an inexplicable craving for pudding and butter. Mr. Erler has an embarrassing amount of experience at re-interpreting He-Man-oriented characters, having produced, written and voiced the humorous cult-classic radio serial “My Evil Plans”, featuring bony-faced anti-hero Skeletor. Longtime patrons of the Alamo will also remember Mr. Erler’s legendary vocal re-workings of Christmas cartoon classics.
