For years and years we tried to be snobs. "Oh no," we'd say, "we don't watch TV. We're a movie theater. We only watch films." But then we noticed that TV was actually starting to kick more and more ass and before long we were hooked. And so we started doing BUFFY SING-ALONGS. We started showing some season premieres, or a few finales. After this fall's season premiere season, though, we realized that watching our favorite shows at our favorite theater on a huge huge screen had spoiled us. We missed being able to fast-forward through the commercials like we do at home with the miracle of our TIVO, but the larger-than-life Veronica Mars made up for it. And then we had an epiphany: why don't we get a TIVO for the theater? Then we could have the biggest screen in Austin, beer brought to us by the best waitstaff in town, all of our favorite shows, AND we could still fast-forward through the commercials! Holy crap, why didn't we think of this years ago?
This season we're going CW crazy with VERONICA MARS. We're starting the mid season premiere at 7:30 even though we know GILMORE starts at 7pm because that gives us time to sneak past the ads. SHHHH! Admission is free, but you can reserve a seat in advance by prepurchasing a $5 food and beverage voucher redeemable at that night's show. So cancel that trip to Best Buy; you don't need a big TV anymore. We've totally got you covered.
We started our TV Parties out this fall with a premiere party for the new season of Veronica Mars and realized that we didn’t want to go back to watching it on our puny televisions for the rest of the season. At that party we watched it live and had to sit through commercials, but now we got a Tivo and can skip past the stupid Aerie girls. Because, seriously, what is the CW (or American Eagle) thinking? They say things like, “I bet Logan and Veronica will end up getting split up before the end of the season, because keeping a high school boyfriend when you’re in college is hard,” but all we can ever hear is “American Eagle is paying me to look like I’m have a casual conversation with my friends, but I haven’t really watched this show before and I know nothing about the world and the other people in it.” So yeah, we fast-forward through that business and get straight back into the Logan-dating goodness.
We will sadly not be following Veronica through the rest of the season. We will premiere the mid-season reboot and possibly the finale.
AND! Sundays at 9:45 catch two hours of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!
TV will never be the same again.
