Our very own Mondo Tees shirt-slinger Amerykah Medford suggested this show to us, and as soon as we heard the title, we were hooked. And since Amerykah just happens to moonlight as a DJ for Elysium's retro dance parties and she went all out enough to suggest a playlist for us, we TOTALLY knew we had to do this show. We're still sourcing the videos, but some of the stuff on our list includes Whitney Houston, The Bangles, Belinda Carlisle, Tiffany, Blondie, Cyndi Lauper, Joan Jett, Nena, Kim Wilde, Tina Turner, and a bit of some girl called Madonna - We're selling tickets to this show by the seat, but we'll be surprised if many of us stay in those seats for more than the first five minutes. This event is wicked awesome. I went last week. It was sold out. The Alamo Drafthouse surrenders itself to the mercy of hundreds of ladies who sing and dance on their seats, the tables, the aisles, the stage. It’s aerobic exercise. People are dressed in radical 80s clothes, make-up and hair. There were about 15 dudes there, half with their girlfriends. This event is bodacious. Nothing about it is bogus. Check it out!
