The Violet Crown Radio Players reproduce a live radio broadcast of James Joyce’s “The Dead,” in celebration of the writer’s 125th birthday, at the Harry Ransom Center on Friday, February 2, at 7 p.m.
This event is the first in a series of performances focusing on works from the 1920s. The actors of Violet Crown Radio Players, Austin’s original, old-time radio re-creation troupe perform in period costumes from the 1920s, interact with audience members, and give audience members a behind-the-scenes look at radio studios, ca. 1929.
Seating is free, but limited.
Mark your calendars for other performances in the series: William Faulkner’s “A Rose for Emily” on March 8 and Dorothy Parker’s “The Big Blonde” on July 26.
This series is held in conjunction with the Ransom Center’s exhibition The American Twenties.
