Opening Reception Feb 3 from 7pm-11pm

Utility Trances is an exhibition about physical and psychic processes of engagement and estrangement through which our suspension of disbelief is simultaneously called and undone. The effect of the exhibition is to dislodge expected associations of image, material and space without relying upon artifice or other fancy tricks. The works of the four artists involved, Ben Roosevelt, Lain York, Rob Smith and Greg Pond were last together as part of the Interim exhibition at the TULCA Arts festival in Galway, Ireland. This reunion show of sorts brings new work from the four to Austin.
