Big changes are afoot at the Alamo Downtown. Longtime Alamo weekend headliner John Erler is launching his new group, MASTER PANCAKE THEATER, in February. The eight-year Alamo tradition of bad movies paired with live comedy continues under the experienced hand of Erler, his comedy partner Joe Parsons and a rotating gang of Austin comedians, national celebrities and local personalities. This February, the Alamo�s resident film-talkers, helmed by John Erler, play iceberg to James Cameron�s 1997 magnum opus TITANIC. Featuring girlish hearthrob Leo DiCaprio (GROWING PAINS, CRITTERS 3) as a poor stowaway who gets his comeuppance from a selfish float-hogger played by Kate Winslet (HEAVENLY CREATURES, THE HOLIDAY). Tied with BEN-HUR for most Oscars ever (11), this bloated epic features more celebrity cameos (Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Bill Paxton, Victor Garber), stilted dialogue, and contrived romance than 5 episodes of THE LOVE BOAT. There�s a little something for everyone here: TITANIC lovers will enjoy seeing their film again on the big screen. TITANIC haters will appreciate the fact that we�ve chiseled this gargantuan epic down to a more manageable hour and half run time. Now if we could only eliminate Celine Dion we might actually have a movie! But have no fear, the heart will go on, even if (SPOILER ALERT!) Leo DiCaprio doesn�t.
