Good vibes seem the perfect prescription for humpday blues, so the folks at the Cantina decided to start promoting some local flavor for the middle of the week. Headlining the first Wed. in April is Mr. Brown, a band which features many familiar faces from the local reggae/latin scenes over the years, and they're specializing in funky roots music. Opening things up is Bruce James,
who some of you may remember as the piano player in the HipHop Humpdays started at The White Rabbit long ago and then moved to The Parish. Well, he's got his own trip now, which is part Tom Waits, part Stevie Wonder, part Joe Cocker, and so on. A truly original singer/songwriter that is nevertheless mining territory of classic r&b and soul.
