POP: The Cruelest Month

Join the Harry Ransom Center for the Poetry on the Plaza event “The Cruelest Month” on Wednesday, April 4, at noon, at the Ransom Center.

In 1922, T. S. Eliot's "The Waste Land" sparked a poetic fire that is still burning today. April has never been the same since the publication of his opening line, “April is the cruelest month.” Join the Ransom Center for readings of poetry by Eliot, those who inspired him, and reactions to Eliot’s work, both positive and negative. Regardless of your opinion of Eliot, it is difficult to ignore his impact on poetry.

This Poetry on the Plaza event is in celebration of National Poetry Month.

Refreshments will be served at this free event.
