With BLOODSHOTS, we gave filmmakers the chance to make a horror movie in 48 hours. The BLANKS ON A BLANK competition asked you to envision what other animal/vehicle disaster movies would follow in the vapor trail of SNAKES ON A PLANE. But the newest filmmaking challenge is the one we've been the most excited about for months now - THE UNNECESSARY SEQUELS CONTEST. Now, plenty of people will argue that most of the sequels that Hollywood tries to shove down our throats every summer are unnecessary, but for this contest we're looking for films that are even more unnecessary than PREDATOR 2. We're talking about things like TITANIC 2. Or ROCKY III: Part II. Or APOCALYPSE NOW: AGAIN. Ooh! Or a SCHINDLER'S LIST 2. But I don't want to say anymore, because for this contest YOU get to choose what Unnecessary Sequel you want to make into a reality. That's right, this time around we aren't going to assign you a genre or make you trust a computer-generated program to decide what sort of sequel you'll have to make. Our only rule will be that no two filmmaking teams can do the same sequel, so when you sign up at the website (www.unnecessarysequels.com), we'll confirm your sequel idea as assigned to each team on a first come, first served basis. Registration will be live at 3pm on April 22nd and teams will then have until May 22 to complete a trailer for their movie, as well as designing a poster to go with it. We'll have a special panel of Alamo-selected judges to choose the jury winner. Check the Unnecessary Sequels website for information!
