The Pillowman - Extended until July 21

Allstarpick Thursday 06/07 (08:00PM) - Saturday 07/21 (12:00AM) @ Hyde Park Theatre 411 W. 53rd Street (map)

Sold out the first 4 weeks...NOW EXTENDED until July 21st.

In this very black comedy indeed, a short story writer (Jude Hickey) must answer to the police when his horrifying--and unpublished--fictions begin to come true. And once the police (Kenneth Wayne Bradley and Ken Webster) question the writer's mentally impaired brother (Mark Pickell), the story begins a series of startling twists. Austin Arts Hall of Fame member Ken Webster directs this edgy and enthralling evening that blends black comedy and mystery into one riveting tale.

The Pillowman received rave reviews during its recently concluded Broadway run:

"The season's most exciting and original new play." The New York Times

"Those who skip it will miss the best play of the season." USA Today

The Pillowman earned Martin McDonagh England's prestigious Olivier Award, and was Tony-nominated, along with his plays The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Lonesome West, and The Beauty Queen of Leenane, as best play on Broadway.

McDonagh won an Oscar for his short film, Six Shooter. He is the only playwright since Shakespeare to have four shows running simultaneously in London's West End.

The show runs at 8:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, June 7 - 30, 2007. Every Thursday is Pay What You Can Night; Friday and Saturday tickets are $17 ($15 for students, seniors, and ACOT members). Hyde Park Theatre is located at 511 W. 43rd Street. For reservations call 479-PLAY (7529), or simply purchase tickets online..

Evening parking is available at Kenneth's Hair Salon, just south of the theater, and at the Hyde Park Church of Christ on the northeast corner of 43rd & Avenue B. We are grateful to them both for their generosity.
