Ukiyo-e, or images of the 'floating world,' are Japanese woodblock prints that feature beautiful vistas, lush scenery, and natural wonders. More than 50 Japanese woodblock prints from Michener's collection are showcased in this exhibition including works by leading Ukiyo-e artists Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), and Kawase Hasui (1883-1957). This exhibition is organized by the Honolulu Academy of Arts and curated at the Blanton Museum of Art by Cheryl Snay, assistant curator of prints and drawings.
