The Gates Ensemble is Austin's experimento-chamber-noise supergroup. We are 5 of Austin's most creative and talented musicians playing acoustic, electric and electronic instruments, blending elements of jazz, improvisation, noise, electronics and 20th Century (and 21st Century!) compositional strategies for an invigorating, incisive exploration of sound and action. The group is Brent Fariss (contrabass, electronics), Jacob Green (oboe, electronics, sampler), Holland Hopson (banjo, saxophone, computer), Josh Ronsen (prepared guitar, clarinet) and Travis Weller (violin, computer). This will be Holland's last show before he moves to Albany.
