'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix': An IMAX 3D Experience

One of the biggest names in film — and a children's literature phenomenon — flies onto the biggest screen in Austin…where viewers can experience the movie's explosive finale in IMAX 3D!

While the special 12:01 am premiere on July 11 - which features a costume contest and other Harry Potter fun - has already sold out, there will be a variety of special midnight screenings throughout the run of the film. For those who can't quite stay up that late, the Museum is offering all sorts of free, family-friendly fun on Saturday, July 14, from 1 to 3 pm. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: An IMAX 3D Experience, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community is in denial about the teenager's recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort, preferring to turn a blind eye to the news that Voldemort has returned.

Fearing that Hogwarts' venerable Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemort's return in order to undermine his power and take his job, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch over Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students.

But Professor Dolores Umbridge's Ministry-approved course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them and the entire wizarding community.

So at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry takes matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore's Army," Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: An IMAX 3D Experience, audiences will experience the movie's explosive finale come to life in IMAX 3D - the most immersive cinematic 3D in the world. Approximately 20 minutes of the film's finale have been transformed into IMAX 3D for a truly magical ending. Just as the film reaches the peak of excitement, moviegoers will be transported inside the film to experience the action, drama and wonder of Harry Potter as never before.

A special on-screen cue (flashing glasses icon) will alert moviegoers when to put the 3D glasses on. At the end of the 3D sequence, a red icon will appear, indicating when the glasses should be taken off.

This film has been rated "PG-13" for "sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images."
