The Harry Ransom Center presents “Gershwin, Copland, and the Roaring Twenties” as part of the city-wide Austin Chamber Music Festival, on Thursday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Harry Ransom Center. The Wild Basin Winds of the Austin Chamber Music Center will perform selections from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin, “I Bought Me a Cat” by Aaron Copland, “Yes, I’m In a Barrel” by Louis Armstrong, “Maple Leaf Rag” by Scott Joplin, and other songs in a night that brings alive 1920s music. Seating at the Ransom Center is free, but limited. This concert is in conjunction with the Ransom Center’s exhibition The American Twenties, closing soon on July 29.
