Everyone’s favorite robots made a movie! No, it’s not a Gondry exploration of mummies, swimmers and skeletons…Daft Punk have been there and done that. Their new film, Electroma, is hardly a dance-a-riffic music video; in fact, none of the music in the film is by Daft Punk. Instead it’s a drawn out story about two robots’ (Hero Robot 1 & Hero Robot 2 according to the credits) journeys to becoming human. Along the way there are Ferraris, explosions and extremely long desert treks!
Apparently the avant-garde awesomeness was lost on the premier crowd at the Cannes film festival when most of the audience walked out of the screening. We take this to be a good sign! And we're sure you'll take comfort in knowing that Daft Punk is pushing the limits of our feeble human souls. It's a nice alternative to the summer of threequels and sequels (Live Free or Daft Punk Almighty 13: Rise of The Silver Potter?)
Admission for the event is FREE. Seating will begin at 6:30 with live DJs Markus with a K and Ocelot spinning Daft Punk. Partyends and Vice Magazine will have stuff to giveaway so come out early as seating and free swag is limited.
Special thanks to Partyends.com and Vice Magazine.
