Although Austin’s The Sword describes its sound as “like a bunch of bison being pushed over a cliff,” the group’s brusque, brutish rock (think early Black Sabbath after a weeklong Shiner Bock binge) drew on mythology and folklore for last year’s Age Of Winters, which found the band taking its heavy metal from ancient battlegrounds. This is a homecoming show for the band, who spent most of the spring and summer cutting a swath through Europe and Japan. Don’t look for respite from the noise during the first part of the show: Oakland’s Saviours are just as savage as their song titles (“Holy Slaughter,” “Exalter Of Thorns”). Opening: The High Cost Of Living.
