Sonic Youth is boring.. Yawn.
about 1 year ago. We’re gonna save ourselves the nightmarish Orwellian experience that is worshipping a yankee carpetbagger and stick around Austin. Who in the hell needs Chinati weekend when Sonic Youth is playing right here at Stubb’s? With the Meat Puppets, no less! read more at austinist.com

about 1 year ago.Sonic Youth followed up 2006’s meaty return to form, Rather Ripped, by making every record nerd older than 25 cream their jeans, selectively touring their 1988 classic, Daydream Nation, from start to finish.read more at AustinChronicle.com
about 1 year ago. When the children of Sonic Youth themselves have kids, Thurston and Kim and Lee and Steve will probably still be making records and touring. And they’ll probably still be good, judging by the strength of the band’s last few albums. As the decades add up, the importance and influence of the beloved noise-rock band becomes more and more clear, and the staying power of its records and shows continues to rise as simple stories turn into legends. Few records trail more legends than Daydream Nation, which shaped Sonic Youth as a laconic, sardonic, iconic force when it came out in 1988. The band spent much of the summer playing Daydream in its entirety at various festival dates, so it’s a safe bet at least one or two tracks from that landmark album will pop up here, alongside the surprisingly spry—if obviously less revelatory—songs from last year’s Rather Ripped.
