Kicking things off are The Royal Kustoms, a roots ska outfit that's comprised of men and women from Austin and/or San Antonio...tight rhythm section, strong horn section, and heavily influenced by Slackers, Toasters, and a handful of others. Hitting the middle slot is Austin's own Afrofreque, which features ex-members of The Killer Bees, Austin's legendary reggae combo. Combining elements of conscious hiphop, nu soul, and classic funk, A'Freque has a danceable sound all its own. For those that remember a combo out of the UK years ago called The Brand New Heavies, A'Freque shares similar ground. Closing is the best ska band that this town has ever called its own, in my opinion...The Stingers ATX. Jonny Meyers has moved with his wife and beautiful
baby girl back to Queens, but he's doing us all a favor by coming 'round the old roost and playing shows w/ his band. A hot show to warm up what's looking like some cooler temperatures for our easy street winter..
