Opening Saturday, November 17th, the Creative Research Laboratory presents Collaboration from Conception. This unique investigation into the process of collaboration features the work of three collaborative groups: Sodalitas (Shea Little, Joseph Phillips, and Jana Swec); Stephanie Bonham and Art Silva; and Katalin Hausel, Leanne Zacharias, and Jaclyn Pryor
Collaboration from Conception is a look at the process of individual artists combining efforts to create art with a collective idea or common interest in mind. Each of the three dynamic artist groups, varying in levels of experience, age, and education, have a unique history and methodology that dictates the way they realize and then create art.
Viewers will be provided with documentation of the creative act and artist interactions as well as the result of the process. End results include performance art, musical scores, painting, sculpture and a raft used to float down Lady Bird Lake. In addition, the exhibition will include downloadable audio documentation, sketchbook samples, photographs, and earlier produced work, to help inform the viewer of each group’s particular method. In order to generate an open discussion amongst the artist groups and viewers, there will be an artist talk, Discussing Collaboration, to accompany the exhibition on December 4th at 6pm.
