Doug Moreland and Matt Skinner bring their music and lyrics to Mercury Hall for the debut of the Dos Equis Singer/Songwriter Music Series presented by Marsha Milam Music Productions.
Doug Moreland is a West Texas fiddler, storyteller, songwriter, and entertainer, along with a career in chainsaw carving and a hobby of training a good dog. The Doug Moreland Show fills a stage and a dancehall with swing tunes and a big sound, but this show will bring Doug down to the personal level where he can tell the stories of his songs, and a few jokes, too.
Matt Skinner is also a West Texas import, singing about adventure, love, and introspection. As a guitar player in Doug Moreland's band, he added fire to the band sound. Now, as a solo artist, he combines his velvet voice with deft guitar work to paint a vivid picture in the mind.
Mercury Hall is an historic church from Mercury, Texas, that has been reborn in South Austin as a picture-perfect setting for music and fellowship in an intimate setting. This new music series brings you Austin's top singer/songwriters up close for their stories and songs. The series continues on Wednesday through March and will include Sam Baker, Walt Wilkins, Brandon Rhyder, and many more.
Cover charge, $5. Free parking at the venue and on side streets. Beer for sale.
Mercury Hall is at 615 Cardinal Lane, one block west of South First Street, just north of Ben White Blvd.
