Bang Camaro is described as “Headbangers Ball meets Polyphonic Spree,” a comparison that would sound idiotic if it weren’t so apt. The Headbangers Ball part is a little odd, but it does explain that Bang Camaro is basically a metal version of the 20-plus-member Polyphonic Spree. The group pairs a five-piece rock band with a 20 “lead singers” delivering standard hair-metal lyrics and vocal wails. The overall effect sounds like a band went nuts in the studio layering vocal tracks; but it’s no studio trick, just a lot of dudes singing lines like “push, push, lady lightning!” Just as amusing are the influences on Bang Camaro’s MySpace page, which go in this order: Skid Row, Sparklehorse, Mötley Crüe, Yo La Tengo, Yngwie Malmsteen, Death Cab For Cutie, Dokken, and several hundred odd pairings of metal and indie rock. How this army will work on the relatively tiny Stubb’s indoor stage should also be entertaining. Opening: Crimson Soul.
