Mosquito Bandito, The Goddamn Gallows, The Teeners, The Bad Sports
5 People & 1 All-Star Like this Event. I Like It
The Teeners slide into the top slot on Friday night, but can they bring it? I spoke to Vomitnoise earlier this weekend, and he told me he is going to hook a car battery up to his nipples at the top of a ladder. You gotta see this! One-man badass Mosquito Bandito returns to Austin, and he's right where he belongs finally. The bandito is like some crazy liquidizer, living off of golden-age rock n' roll. Imagine a puree of Link Wray, The Ventures, and brain damage. That's Mosquito Bandito. The Bad Sports, featuring Daniel Fried of The Wax Museums, alongside Orville Neeley make their Austin debut. The Goddamn Gallows open the show.

Raw, primal, and appropriately buzzing, “one-man bandit” Mosquito Bandito sucks inspiration from the serrated twang of Link Wray, The Cramps, and probably a jug or two of moonshine for his skuzzy blues-punk, drawing listeners to the beach with reverb-laden surf guitar and then holding their heads under the waves. Retro-minded psychobilly group The Goddamn Gallows are all greasy swing riffs, slick pompadours, and galloping chop-shop rhythms made for drinking, dancing, and fighting—in that order. Austin’s awesomely sloppy The Teeners don’t have time for any of those things: They’re too busy freaking the fuck out.
