Where does a band go after it gains a reputation for off-the-rails live shows featuring vomiting, making out, and singer Cole Alexander pissing in his own mouth? If you’re youthful Atlanta garage-rock outfit Black Lips, you let people believe that you still do those things and continue kicking out the jams. The group’s fifth studio album, Good Bad Not Evil, came out last year to plenty of critical acclaim, but it’s still all about the fiery live show, with or without the bodily fluids. No strangers to crowd control either, skuzzy soul-punk locals White Denim continue to build on the buzz of last year’s Let’s Talk About It EP; those who testify in person can pick up the band’s still-unreleased debut LP. Druggy and dust-covered, The Strange Boys ply the sort of nicotine-stained Greenwich Village psych-blues that belies the members’ apple-cheeked youth.
