East Austin Community Center Grand Opening & Musical Fiesta - Saturday, April 19 from 10 am - 9 pm Southwest Key Programs, the fourth largest nonprofit in Austin, is celebrating the GRAND OPENING of its new East Austin Community Center with a day-long musical fiesta on Saturday, April 19, 2008.   The public is invited to tour the gleaming new 30,000 square foot mixed-use facility, which is home to an outdoor amphitheater, Café del Sol, the Boys & Girls Club, a fully-equipped AMD community technology center, a hike and bike trail, Southwest Key’s national headquarters, and a variety of programs for youth and adults.  The free family celebration will feature mariachis and ballet folklorico, dragon dancers, prizes, food, a nonprofit exhibit gallery, the City of Austin’s Health Connections Mobile Van, and a variety of children’s games.   The festivities will begin with a community blessing of the building at 10:00 am followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:00 hosted by former Austin Mayor and Southwest Key board chair, Gustavo L. Garcia.  Starting at noon a variety of bands will perform at the facility’s outdoor amphitheater, including Cienfuegos at 12:30, Nick’s Groove Band featuring Denice Brooks at 1:30, Ruben Ramos at 2:30, The Cipher Hip Hop Project, a 40-member gospel choir at 4:00, Love of China dancers at 4:30, and GMZ New Vision Praise Dancers at 5:30.   The event will end with an evening of dancing and music by El Conjunto Bombazo Norteno from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.  For more information about the event, contact Southwest Key at 512-462-2181 or visit www.swkey.org
