Texas singer-songwriter Robert Earl Keen has been sharpening his skills for over 25 years, releasing 15 albums and already finding his name listed among the greats of Texas songwriters. The Band of Heathens play a unique brand of Texas twang and country soul, one which awarded the quintet 2007's Best New Band at the Austin Music Awards.

Posted 2 months ago.If there’s one thing you can’t accuse Robert Earl Keen of, it’s being dishonest. Through the years, the Texan has gained a reputation as one of country’s most honest and relatable storytellers—one with a penchant for occasional spats of goofiness. Perhaps the best example of this earnest-silly mix is “Merry Christmas From The Family” a humorous holiday song that hits a little too close to home. The veracity of “The Great Hank” (on 2005’s What I Really Mean), a dream-story about Hank Williams in drag, has yet to be proven. Opening: Band Of Heathens.
