The latest incarnation of Jennifer Herrema, the raw, sleazy wasteoid who fronted Royal Trux, RTX doesn’t feature guitarist Neil Hagerty, though its mucked-up gutter-rock sound doesn’t drift too far afield. As Royal Trux, Herrema and Hagerty made some of the sludgiest, sloppiest rock ever heard. The group ultimately congealed into a more oiled machine, but last year’s Western Xterminator recalls some of the old band’s more abrasive moves while incorporating certain tricks culled from cock rock. Jennifer Herrema was one half of the influential rock band Royal Trux, and she's now continuing the legacy with RTX. Her voice is a mutaded hybrid of Mick Jagger and Courtney Love, kicking out riffs that are inspired by three decades of classic rock. Talented singer-songwriter-guitarist performs with his solid band Two Part Beast, and locals Abby Birds provide delightful pop ditties.
