801 Red River (map) London rapper Dizzee Rascal is a rising star in hip-hop, so far releasing three critically acclaimed albums in his brief career. The twenty-something rapper is currently at the top of UK singles charts, and makes frequent appearances at some of the bigger music festivals, including SXSW this year. Kicking off the show will be the Killee-based hip-hop soul of Crew 54 and DJ Aaron Lacrate.

After carrying the torch to these shores with his devastating debut, Boy In Da Corner (and following its bravado bang with the far sulkier Showtime), the staccato rapper with the often-impenetrable dialect dialed direct to America on 2007’s Maths + English, bringing in successful transatlantic transplants like Lily Allen and Arctic Monkeys and even dueting with Houston’s UGK on finger-pointing cut “Where’s Da G’s.” Frenetic and feral, Rascal’s mix of bent-circuit bangers and ghetto-electro still sounds like little else, in his homeland or elsewhere.
